Context

Fashion is also one of the most polluting industries at the moment; according to the United Nations Environment Programme, it accounts alone for up to 10% of global carbon dioxide output and one fifth of the 300 million tons of plastic that are produced each year.

Fashion is responsible for a total 11.3 million tons of annual waste, as we are buying 60% more clothing as compared with 15 years ago and we are keeping them for half as long as in the past.

More and more fashion companies (especially the biggest ones) are introducing circular economy strategies in their operation, switching to more environmentally friendly materials and extending the lifecycle of the project.

However, fashion VET sector is lagging behind and VET learners are not trained on the latest tools which creates a gap between their skillset after they finish their studies and the market requirements.

Objectives

Digi-Branding is seeking to introduce a Strategy on Digitalization and Sustainability of fashion VET studies and train the VET Teachers/Trainers on available digital tools and green practices so as to be better equipped to respond to the needs of their learners.

Digi-Branding objectives encompass:

Creating an upscaling strategy for fashion VET Curricula with a focus on digitalization and sustainability
Delivering a training course for VET Teachers/Trainers
Bridging the gap between the requirements of the fashion industry and the VET Learners’ skillset
Modernising the VET Teachers/Trainers’ competences

Raising awareness on the reduction of fashion impact on the environment
