TourEdu4All

TourEdu4All aims to strengthen Sub-Saharan Africa's tourism vocational education and training (VET) institutions by focusing on empowerment, inclusive access, entrepreneurship practices, including funding opportunities at the VET level, digital technologies, and excellence in tourism. This is achieved through the development of a Holistic Model for inclusive tourism VET, centered on knowledge exchange and networked collaboration tailored to the specific contexts of partnering countries.

Context

TourEdu4All is a Capacity Building project involving nine partners from Greece, Germany, Spain, Namibia, Gambia, and Kenya. The project aims to enhance tourism education in Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) by improving employability among vulnerable groups, such as youth and women, especially in rural areas. TourEdu4All seeks to provide equitable access to vocational education and training (VET) in tourism while fostering cooperation among VET institutions. By developing a Holistic Model for inclusive tourism , the project addresses the region's need for accessible and high-quality education.

Objective of the project

To increase the employability of youth in the SSA region, including disadvantaged groups and women

To create pathways for equitable access to SSA Tourism VET

To foster international and intra-national networked cooperation of Tourism VET institutions on the basis of exchanging Good Practices, knowledge and technical resources

To render the SSA Tourism VET ecosystem relevant to the requirements of the Tourism industry

To actively support the SSA Tourism VET ecosystem by facilitating financial support and exchanging-income generating strategies across Tourism VET institutions

Results

Analysis of the 4 Pillars Best Practices

A report presenting and describing the 4 Pillars that will be adapted and incorporated into the Model for Inclusions in Tourism Training. The report also identifies the actions needed to make the Model operational.

4 Pillars Raw Model for Inclusive Tourism Training

The Raw Model will include functions and operations, processes for each functional area, a monitoring framework with key performance indicators, and descriptions of roles and responsibilities for staff engagement.

Action Plans

Eight Action Plans will be developed, detailing specific strategies for the effective implementation of the 4 Pillar Model at the VET Provider level.

Training Materials and Curriculum

A comprehensive Training Curriculum outline for Inclusion in Tourism will be designed, along with training materials for VET teachers and trainers to support training implementation.

Activities

The main activities include:

01. Analysis of Governance and Funding Structures

Analyzing existing governance and funding structures and methodologies in the partnering VET institutes to identify gaps and shortcomings.

02. Study Visits

Conducting study visits to selected African and European institutes.

03. Design of the 4 Pillar Raw Model

Designing the functions of the 4 Pillar Raw Model for Inclusive Tourism Training.

04. Development of Action Plans

Developing detailed Action Plans for adapting the Raw Model within the partnering VET institutions.

05. Preparation of ToT Training Material

Preparing Training of Trainers (ToT) materials for upskilling VET leaders, staff, and teachers for the operation of the Holistic Model.

06. Training Sessions

Conducting training sessions for VET staff, trainers, and teachers.

07. Pilot Implementation

Implementing a pilot of the 4 Pillar Model at the VET center level.
