Zaragoza, November 5, 2025 – This week, Zaragoza has become an international meeting point for experts in vocational education and tourism. On November 4 and 5, more than 30 professionals and representatives from universities, VET (Vocational Education and Training) centers, clusters, companies, and public administrations from Spain, Italy, Germany, Greece, Belgium, and China gathered to coordinate actions and share progress on the TourX project. This initiative, coordinated by the Greek organization AKMI, has a budget of 4 million euros and a duration of 4 years. Its goal is to enhance training in the tourism sector at an international level.

Organized by Asociación Mundus, this event has placed Zaragoza on the map of international cooperation in education and tourism, strengthening its position as an innovative city in public-private collaboration within the sector. The meeting served to discuss best practices, present achieved results, and plan new initiatives to benefit students and professionals in vocational training across Europe. Key topics included cooperation between educational institutions and VET centers with industry partners, the transfer of educational innovation, and the internationalization of training programs.

The participation of local actors such as Zaragoza Congresos Convention Bureau and ETUZ (Escuela de Turismo Universitaria de Zaragoza) highlights the city’s commitment to reinforcing its role in educational and professional tourism.

José Francisco García, manager of Zaragoza Turismo, emphasized the value of hosting events aimed at promoting excellence, improving skills, and sharing ideas about the future of the tourism sector:

“They position us as a city that hosts relevant gatherings and help us strengthen Zaragoza’s image as a sustainable, modern destination with very promising prospects for the coming years.”

Alberto Serrano, director of the Escuela de Turismo Universitaria de Zaragoza, reinforced the importance of the meeting’s central theme — collaboration among educational institutions, businesses, and public administrations:

“It is an essential element to raise the quality of tourism education, as it allows us to stay aligned with the current challenges and needs of the sector and to apply the lessons we teach at the university in real professional contexts.”

Serrano also highlighted that the connection between the university, the Tourism School, and the business environment not only enables the transmission of theoretical and practical content but also promotes the development of skills such as communication and creativity, which help students integrate into the job market —“becoming active agents of change and innovation.”

During the two-day meeting, international partners also enjoyed a cultural program to get to know Zaragoza. They visited some of its main landmarks and discovered its gastronomy.

“The meeting not only enabled knowledge exchange about tourism training but was also very valuable in allowing our international partners to experience firsthand the richness and diversity of the city’s tourism,” explained Béatrice Bellet, director of Asociación Mundus.
